Pros: Has lasted more than 6 years without trouble; broke recently; repaired and it's *still* going.
Cons: It is larger than other units, yet mine mounted under the cabinet without problem.
The Bottom Line: This product lasted 6 years then was repairable and is still working. There are always stories of failure; this one is of success and how to repair this unit.

| gloucks's Full Review: Black & Decker SmartBrew DCM21C 4-Cup Coffee Maker |
This is a story that just might assist those who have a Black and Decker ODC 325 Spacemaker coffee maker that has begun leaking water out the bottom of the unit.
We bought the product for all the common reasons already expressed on this forum. Nuf said about that. We purchased this so long ago that we can't recall. It was at least 6 years ago, perhaps 8 or 9, so one positive aspect is that we were NOT one of the unfortunate people who had an early bad experience with this model. Maybe we've just been lucky, but read on to get the whole story.
It started leaking water onto the counter last week. The leak is out the bottom of the unit and begins without the unit starting its function.
I recall complaining to my spouse that "in the old days" these things would have been repairable.
But I decided to try anyway, so I took it apart (one simple screw, but needs a special driver to unscrew it!). I found a rubber elbow at the far end of the heating tube that was brittle and had cracked.
On the part was printed a number. As I could not repair the rubber elbow, I almost gave up. But then I called the local repair for B&D. No dice, but they did give me a toll-free number. 1.800.231.9786 (Cox International).
Believe it or not, they had the part. It's part number 172176-00 (outlet elbow). And they are shipping it for $12.70US including shipping (admittedly a high price, but what the heck).
So I can't (any more than anyone on this forum) know of the overall reliability of this item. But I can attest to the story I've given: A unit that lasted 6+ years without trouble, and then a simple repair and it's still going.
