| Barbarajo's Full Review: Juicelady JL210A 186.43 Watts Juicer |
This is going to be the shortest review that I have written in the history of my 9-month membership here at Epinions. I hear those chuckles and sighs of relief, ACDC711.
I have written two related reviews on the subject of juicing. One was on Jay Kordich's book entitled, The Juiceman's Power of Juicing. That can be found at:
http://www.epinions.com/book-review-56D7-6B8857C-395AA536-prod1
The other is about The Champion Juicer. I have been using a Champion for many years. That review can be found at:
http://www.epinions.com/hmgd-review-5320-4DF0E0B-39D35FE8-prod1
In both of those reviews, you can find comprehensive details about the many health benefits of juicing as well as tips for storage and produce selection to name a couple.
You may ask why I opted to buy another juicer if I already have and use one.
The answer is simple. I purchased The Juiceman Juicer Juiceman Jr. JM1 model for my parents and youngest brother. My parents are in the mid-seventies in reasonably good health and my brother is another story. He has Down Syndrome and a multitude of health ailments. As a result he is on a lot of medication. I want my family to enjoy some of the same benefits that I do but know that a model like the Champion is out of the question.
To begin with, it is too big and too heavy for them. My father makes Felix Unger look like a slob so the slight mess, noise and "clutter" ( in his mind ) would send him over the edge of total neurosis.
The Juiceman Juicer Juiceman Jr. JM1 is a perfect choice for them. It is compact, light, extremely easy to clean and has a mighty powerful motor. I was shocked and impressed.
It takes up such a small amount of space that even neurotics like my Dad cannot complain. Oh, by the way, we did have to put it in the basement kitchen - a small inconvenience considering the many benefits and pleasures that they have already seen.
This model also features:
~ An extra large feed tube - handy for large pieces.
~ Automatic pulp ejection - self explanatory
~ A large detached pulp basket - very handy so you don't have to worry about the pulp flying all over!
~ A micro mesh screen design - I found that this was not easy to clean and suggested that my Mom purchase a sturdy vegetable brush or else this component is time consuming to clean. The brush can also be used to clean your produce.
Included are many tips and recipes from Jay Kordich - The Juiceman himself.
One tip that I have found useful that is not in either of the other reviews that I have written is the fact that if you are not able to purchase certified organic produce, you can soak your goods in your sink in cold water. Add four tablespoons of salt and the juice of a lemon. Soak for ten minutes, rinse and dry.
This was an early Christmas gift for my parents and I am happy to say that they love it. My fussy brother was hesitant at first but now asks for his daily doses of liquid vitamins. They make fruit juices for breakfast and for an afternoon pick-me-up. With dinner, they enjoy different vegetable combinations of juices. My Mom has approached this with the enthusiasm and excitement of a newlywed. And, by the way, we just celebrated their 50th Anniversary on October 14th.
So, in conclusion, if you are interested in purchasing a juicer but do not want to spend $250.00 or more and you have space limitations, this model is the perfect solution for you. I was lucky enough to get it in sale for $49.99. It generally sells for around $100.00.
Happy juicing and good health to all!
