I am getting on in years, and perhaps this gift from my grandson was
a bit optomistic. I found it loud and noisy on my first use of it, and the
second time I almost drilled a hole in my leg.
This was a gift for my 82nd birthday, and since I can no longer reach
the counter blender with ease (I am wheelchair-bound) Skip felt it would
be good to have a handheld blender, so I can mix my milkshakes in my lap.
The mechanics of this item seem rather complicated, and had several buttons
and levers and such near the hilt, I assume they control the speed of the
blending.
So I had all of my milkshake ingredients all poured into my favorite
glass (winne the pooh and christopher robin frosted glass), and I pulled
out my new blender, and fumbled with the different buttons for a while, almost
spilling my drink several times. Finally the thing roared to life, bucking
and spinning in my hand at an alarming rate. I struggled to control it, while
pulled it into the glass held between my legs. Immediately, most of my drink
exploded all over my white shirt, and in my suprise, the blender slipped from
my hands and began spinning wildly in my lap. I reached to grab it and turn
it off, but it sliced my thumb, and then I punched it onto the floor, where
it spun and spun.
I had to wait until my maid arrived to clean me off, and it was a
horrible sticky mess in the kitchen, I can assure you. I havn't touched the
thing since.
