Avoid this one if you don't like obscenely high phone bills!
I went to Monte Carlo for a week this September 2000, and enjoyed the experience except for the last day.
My sister and I were presented with an obscenely high phone bill of about $24. I had talked to my wife for only 8 minutes and I HAD REVERSED THE CHARGES! That was the only phone call during the week.
Needless to say I told the Asian clerk who barely understood English that this was wrong but she insisted I didn't make a Collect call! I told her I was 100% sure I made the call collect but to no avail. She said if I could prove my case the money would be refunded. Unfortunately I won't have any proof until I get my next phone bill in 30 days!
Even if the call had been non-collect, $3 a minute would STILL BE OBSCENE in this day of 7 and 10 cent a minute Long Distance rates!
Since there's a strong element of fraud in this case I will be reporting this to the FCC!
