First Impressions
National Geographic is a renowned publication that encourages and instructs its readers on the world and its wonders. I would say that it has done more for global warming and the reduction of pollution that anything Al Gore or any environmentalist or government policy has because it inspires us to do better. Not by fear tactics, fake science, or twisting the law but by amazing pictures that capture our imagination and inspire us to preserve nature.
Once again, National Geographic brings its talent and imagery to create niche magazines that depict the beauty of various regions around the world. It is by far the best travel magazine in the world. One glance at a Traveler Magazine of say Australia or South Dakota, you would literally thirst for a vacation at one of the destinations.
It provides a background or history of the region, suggested places to visit, and more. It would be fun to visit all of the locations in the magazine and try to take a photograph Article Content
Typical blurbs you can expect to find are: History, culture, food & drink, maps of the regions, destinations you should visit and of course amazing pictures.
If you intend to visit Italy, go and purchase the Traveler Magazine that features just Italy. Then plan your trip around the information therein. Unlike other travel guides that give you lots of information (usually sponsored) and not enough visual eye candy, this will cut out the crap and only give you destinations that are worth visiting. If they weren’t worth visiting you would know.
In the back of the magazines there are Indexes, this will help you navigate the magazines while you are on vacation. No more dog leafing the pages, sticky notes that fall out, etc. Just flip to the back, look for the city or name of something in particular and there it is.
Advertising
What advertising? It blends very well into the magazine and the ads are targeted well so that you do not mind them. I guess we all need to remember that without the advertising the magazine would be around $15-$30 an issue!
Price & Cycle
Currently, direct from National Geographic you can purchase a one year subscription for only $10 and that comes with two free maps. If you can’t live without National Geographic, as usual, they offer their magazines abroad for an extra fee, around 3.5x greater than the standard America cost.
It is only published bi-monthly, so the standard USA price is $1.67 per cover. See the link for all costs, fees, and taxes:
Whether you are looking to go to Rome, Paris or somewhere closer to home like the valley club huntingdon valley pa or the white tail resort you will be very pleased with your money with National Geographic’s Traveler Magazines! You do not have to be Michael Jackson to get five star treatment in Japan you just need to know where to look. Overall, I am very satisfied once again with National Geographic and I highly recommend this magazine to all avid National Geographic readers, travelers, or just if you like imagery and art.
