For a lip products junkie like me, mark doesn't stand a chance!

The Bottom Line: mark Gleamstick Hook Up Lip Color doesn't impress me. Hooking up two cosmetics is cute but not of you don't like the performance of the products. Average at it's average-est.

As I mentioned in my review of mark Scanda-Lash Hook Up Mascara I'm not a fan of Avon cosmetics but I sometimes take a chance and try some when I see something interesting. mark Hook ups interested me because they can be mixed and matched in any way I want so that I don't have to carry as much "stuff" in my purse. I picked up two shades of mark Gleamstick Hook Up Lip Color and it's OK. Just OK.

The Packaging
These little .31 ounce lipsticks come boxed. They're really small, under three inches for sure. They are in round plastic tubes that reflect the color of the lipstick but the tubes are not clear, just colored similarly to the shades. They swivel up like traditional lipstick. They're made to be "hooked" into the plastic hook up extender and you can add any other hook up product on the other side. You can have mascara on one side and lip color on the other, or mix it up any way you want.
My Use
The color chart is really bad on Avon's website. The shades I chose are nothing like they looked on the screen and the names of the shades don't help to identify their hues. These solid, slim lipsticks come in six shades from a very light pink to a deep brown. Unfortunately those are the shades I ended up with and one's too light and one's way too dark. They looked good on the screen though!
The Hook ups actually can be used alone. They have a pull off tube covering them and the bottom of the lip color is closed. They fit into the little mark Hook Up extender from the bottom of the tube. At any rate, I put the two lip colors together with one connector but I can remove one and replace it with mascara, eye shadow, eye liner, or whatever else I want in the Hoop Up line. When two Hook Ups are connected, they are about are bigger than one generously sized lip gloss.
The lip colors, although I don't like the shades, are creamy and slick on nicely. They are pigmented quite a lot and color lips well with a tad bit of shine. There is no shimmer in the shades I chose and I don't think the others have shimmer either. The color lasts a typical amount of time on my lips - about an hour to an hour and a half if I don't eat.
My lips feel a little waxy when I wearmark Gleamstick Hook Up Lip Color although they have no taste or scent. I don't taste or smell any mint like was described on the Avon site. They go on quite weightless but then feel somewhat heavy and THERE when they are on.
I'm not impressed by these lip colors. Not only are the shades all wrong (Not their fault.) but they're just really average in every respect. And, for $5.00 for a tiny tube of solid lip color, I don't feel I'm getting a bargain at all. There's really not much product in the tubes as far as I can tell judging from the length of the tubes and how slim the sticks are.
These are OK in a pinch but I'm a lip products junkie and I'm NEVER in a pinch for lip color. I could (and will) easily live without mark Gleamstick Hook Up Lip Color for the rest of my life and not miss out on anything.
Buying Info
You can buy mark Gleamstick Hook Up Lip Color and all mark Hook Up products on the Avon website or through an Avon representative. These lip colors are $5.00 each and don't often go on sale. I really think they're overpriced for the amount of product and for the performance. But they DO hook together and that's fun, right?
Conclusion
mark Gleamstick Hook Up Lip Color is unremarkable. I don't like the shades I chose but I found a way to blend the light and dark to get a pretty hue. The lip colors are creamy and do slick on easily and I suppose the Hook Up idea is cute if you are wearing a lip color and another Hook Up product and want to have them both in one place. I do like the idea of swapping different cosmetics and hooking them up but, really, I haven't found any mark Hook Up products that I would bother to carry with me. I give these 3 stars. They're OK, just not anything I will repurchase.
