happygocampy's Full Review: American Thighs by Veruca Salt
I was 15 years old watching MTV When Seether came on. I was like dude these chicks rock! It's one of those hit singles you could hear today and it would remind you of the times back in the mid 90's. The grace and brilliance of the guitar playing is certainly a sound to be heard and not described and totally erectified further by the singing. I was hooked, from that day on including today you can call me a Veruca Salt fan.
So i went and got the album, I wasn't very impressed with the 1st song 'Get Back' (i was a 15 year old boy, what ya expect?) so i quickly skipped to the next song 'All Hail Me'. Now your talkin, Louise Post was singing, at the time i could care less, Nina was singing backup and what a great job she did with all those voices she makes in through the song. The next song was Seether, i already knew it rocked. The next 5 songs were all catchy in their own right, but kind of slow for the 15 year old kid i was. So i stumbled onto song #9 "Number One Blind", it was slow to the point of me almost skipping to the next song, but i was quickly caught up in the lovely guitar noise that started followed by a lovely voice that meshed so well, i had to listen to it. Today this song is one of my favorites of Veruca Salt. Then the next song came on "Victrola", two words: It Rocks!.
Without further ado, it's 12 and 1/2 years later and i can actually tolerate listening to the whole album through, which is quite a rarity these days.
