That's probably the best review title I've ever seen. Kudos!

"whiny highschool drama music" is a great way of putting it, although it seems that at times, it's almost elementary or junior high drama the way these emo kids act. :)
Thanks for commenting...glad you liked the review!

Brilliant work! (Reply to this comment)

I really hate the whole pop punk and emo or whatever it's called (I call it whiny highschool drama music) genres and really wish they would go away. Sometimes you can find good genres in almost any genre but I can never find any good ones in those two. I will steer clear of this and the Elmo title was pure genius!

Thanks, Jimmy!
Yeah, you'd rid yourself of a bunch of cringe-inducing moments if you steer clear of this one, lol.

The indie snob in me berated me, the hip-hop in me called me a p*ssy, and the increasingly prevalent pop fiend in me whispered "join us....."
LOL.
yeah, that song is a good one. I was like, ah, why resist it, it's simply neat. Too bad a large percentage of the rest of the album sucks, so you're much wiser than I was for staying away from it.
Thanks :).

yeah, a lot of people just like to call the album that gets the most attention a "sell-out album". It's dumb. I should probably be glad that I haven't heard their other stuff, heh.
Thanks for commenting!

Yeah,it's been said by everyone else but I'll say it again anyway. Great title. And great review too,I almost thought of checking these guys out but now I'll probably stay away. Once again great review.

So long, Jackasstoria. (Reply to this comment)

Sheila,
First of all, I concur on your title! B*tchin'. I tried to resist the appeal of the "Boys of Summer" remake for quite a while, actually, citing the fact that a punk-pop band remade one of my favorite old-school songs. Which, normally, is the eighth deadly sin, but in the case of "Boys of Summer," actually worked out nicely. So I pretended I hated it for a long time, and just recently admitted to crossing over to the dark side. The indie snob in me berated me, the hip-hop in me called me a p*ssy, and the increasingly prevalent pop fiend in me whispered "join us....."
In any case, I'm glad you've effectively warned me to, despite the intense catchiness of its standout single, stay away from this album! Excellent review, and, what the hell? another kudo on your title. ;-)
Best,
Drew

Gotta agree - great title.
I actually enjoyed this album, even though I agree that it's a bit lackluster and I think it's hard to remember the songs very specifically. They all kind of sound the same. But I really identified with the lyrical content of this album, so that made me enjoy it a lot.
Great write up, as usual. :)

People called this a sell-out album? What a load of bullcrap, these guys have always been this terrible. Count your ears lucky that you've heard nothing else. Damn kids...

Almost makes you want to express condolences to poor, fuzzy innocent Elmo for his name being a mere letter away from one of the worst "musical" trends that doesn't want to seem to die. :)

heheh, yeah, the two versions are freakishly similar. I must say, however, I'm a much bigger fan of Don Henley/the Eagles than I'll ever be of the Ataris. ;)
Thanks for commenting...and glad you liked the title! :)

That title made me laugh . . . really hard. Oh my goodness. :D
I heard the original Boys of Summer on the classic rock station the other day and almost thought it was the Ataris for a sec. The two versions sound almost exactly alike.
