Hey Shelly,
Like you, this disc grew on me. Their self-titled one had a similar effect. If you dig this record, I'd recommend the latest by The Zutons, a Liverpool band with a similar sound, but a tad more twisted.

Ah, thanks for the info - about what the band are, and about what you briefly thought they were wrongly. My wife liked something-or-other by the Coral on the radio, but didn't hear the song more than twice, and has sort of wondered about them ever since. So: they are smart enough to be inspired by the 1960's, but not dumb enough to try to recreate them in detail. In _or_ out of music, that's a healthy attitude; yay for them!

Their first, an eponymous debut released in 20002, earned rave reviews.
But how do you know that if it's not going to be released for another 18,000 years?

i actually haven't heard much of these guys, despite them being hyped up to all hell over here. their song "dreaming of you" from their self-title debut (i wonder if you've heard it?) was played consistently and annoyingly on a soccer show i used to watch, hence i was pretty sick of the coral and their 'signature' tune before i even got a chance to think about the band objectively.
maybe, just maybe (and considering the very scary fact that we've been agreeing on just about everything lately) i'll finally give something by these guys a shot. because i'm not such a big dumb jerk. oh, and neither are you... :)
