Here's a movie I want more people to know about. This drama/comedy is a movie that my friends and I have watched numerous times and still find it funny and meaningful. Even though we have pretty much all of the lines memorized, we still laugh at them when we hear them. It's also a movie that we consider close to home, because we are a tight group of friends and we also love to go on road trips together, which is what this movie is about. It also is about the last hurrah before friends must go their separate ways. These days it is even more true to home because we are about to all take different roads in life. The movie makes us reflect on the past and our friendship. We've split before, though temporarily. I don't mean this to be a review of my friends, but it tells why this movie is so great, at least for us.
This movie is one of Costner's first movies, and probably one of his better ones as well, though definitely not his best. (That's probably "Silverado.") Judd Nelson also stars in this movie and he plays the perfect "weenie." The movie appropriately blends moments of comedy with drama so that there is a good balance between the two. The soundtrack is also fitting for the movie. Remember, "Going nowhere is a privilege of youth."
