There are plenty of genres out the that don't get any credit. For instance, slapstick/action along the lines of Jackie Chan, or Brendan Frasier out of water. But the one everybody refuses to acknowledge is the Bikini Movies. Always the same plot, young kids save a failing business using women in bikinis and sometimes outright sex.
I must review the movie for what it is.
Of these films, "Bikini Hotel" is one of the best. It involves, as do so many, a bigger business trying to buy out our bikini-loving protagonists. The villains in here are excellent, with a weak young man controlled by an attractive business woman. She controls him with--surprise, surprise--sex. The woman in particular makes this film, turning in a campy performance that is sexy and wonderfully funny. Oddly, the actress is also listed as one of the producers and the costume designer.
The female protagonist is supported by two weird losers who have a thing for bad imitations. Their reactions to the sights they see are so terrible, you cannot help but laugh, no matter how forced it gets. There are many elements of originality here that make "Bikini Hotel" stand out from the rest of its genre. There is a weird fascination with sneezing, that is so crazy, it always makes me laugh. The film culminates in a climactic miniature golf match. If this isn't already making you laugh, then this film just isn't for you.
The filmmakers here set out to make a soft-core comedy and it's one of the best of its kind. It may lack realism and drama, but a few exciting characters and a lot of exciting outfits make up for it.
