The back of the jacket cover says "When Clark Griswold puts his mind to something, we soon realize he hasn't got one." This, epinion readers, is a fact.
This fourth vacation Griswold takes with his wife and family is (in my epinion) the best one of all.
"Vegas Vacation" is the funniest Chevy Chase film I ever saw. The film is produced by Jerry Wintaub and came out in theaters in 1997. The name of the director was never shown so I only assume it must have been the same person who produced it.
The movie starts with Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase, of course) driving his car (if you want to call it driving) and singing along with the Beach Boys "Good Vibrations."
He's all excited and quite hyped-up because his long-life food preservative has been approved and he got a bonus and a promotion...and tickets to Vegas.
He arrives home to his family with cookies and milk in a preserved form and tells all of the news to his family. He also announces to his wife, Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) that he wants to renew their wedding vows...in Vegas.
His wife is thrilled but his son, Russell (Ethan Embry~"That Thing You Do") and his daughter, Audrey (Marisol Nichols) are not enthused in the least. What are two underage teens going to do in Vegas with mom and dad?
Clark Griswold finds plenty for them to do in this hilarious comedy! From the time they enter the Mirage Hotel, the excitement rolls from losing at Blackjack to meeting his hick-screwball cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid) to renewing his vows with Ellen.
Wallace Shawn plays the blackjack dealer and Wayne Newton makes several long appearances in this movie. Randy Quaid does an excellent job in his role as Ellen's cousin's (Christie Brinkley) very annoying (but really funny) husband, Eddie.
If you liked the other three of Chevy Chase's vacations, you'll love this one. I did not care for the others very much, but I did not give up on Chevy Chase. I figured I'd give him another chance. I'm glad I did because I got a lot of laughs out of this film.
