I watched this movie the other day with my niece on the Disney Channel and I must say it was very good. I recommend it to everyone of all age and is good for all movie occasions.
Of course it's a remake of the 1961 release, but I haven't seen that one and probably won't. This one is more up with our times.
It's about two twin girls who get separated at birth, as their parents had gotten a divorce. The mother takes one with her back to London and the father takes the other to live on his ranch in California.
At the age of 11 the girls run into each other at camp one summer and immediately they hate each other, but they don't know that they are identical twins yet. They pull tricks on each other and eventually get into trouble and sent to the isolation cabin.
It is here that they learn that they are sisters. The one twin has a picture of the other's father, and the other twin has a picture of the other's mother. The picture is torn down the middle and each twin has the other half. They suddenly love each other and are best friends. They then get a plan together to switch places when it was time to go home. They then have to go through the transition of acting like one another and talking like one another, as one is from America and the other from London. Of course they have this big plan to get their parents back together.
Of course they think all is well until they find out that Dad now has a girlfriend and plans to marry her. The truth then comes out to the mother that she is Hallie and not Annie. She tells her mother that her dad will be waiting for them at some hotel in California, when he really know nothing of it at all. All the sudden he's at his engagement party and there is his ex-wife! What a surprise! The truth finally comes out to him and the plan is on. The twins remake the night they meet and fall in love. No fooling these two hard headed parents. He's still going to marry the witch and the two girls hate her.
Then comes the camping trip that Dad always takes Hallie on before school starts, but this time Mom and sister are going. Miss Witch doesn't like the idea of that and the ex-wife agrees, so she tells the fiance to go in her place instead. The twins pull a few nasty tricks on her and she give Dad an option of her or them, and of course he chooses the twins.
Well, to make a long story short Annie and Mom go back to London and everyone is sad. When they get home Hallie is there reading the paper asking her mother if she knew that the Concorde got you places in half the time. Dad then show up and says that he let her get away once and wasn't going to let it happen again. Of course they all live happily ever after.
