Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
Eventhough I'm 22 and I indulge in much artistic movies, I still find the time to watch some cartoons. I find it kinda therapeutic to balance serious movies with "popular" movies, especially since most people talk about popular movies and popular celebrities... I'm just one who wouldn't want to be left out of a possibly good conversation.
Going on, I have been a loyal fan of Pixar's A Bug's Life so I found it actually easy to try and watch Toy Story 2 on video. Besides the captivatingly real graphic animation, I found A Bug's Life's plot more captivating because it constantly rises action and never fails to twist the story to yet another helix. For example, near the climax of the movie, we find the ants trying to unleash the "bird project" from the tree. You'd think everything's perfect but then this rock (or should I say "tidbit") didn't quite do it's executive order, thus the Flick ends up trying to hammer the peg off the bird for the perfectly-timed kill. It does work from the start, but then this flea gets the bird on fire and the whole thing burns to the ground and Hopper, infuriated, tries to kill Flick but fails because finally, the ants realize they're stronger together against all the grasshoppers combined. As you can see, from the start, you've been fooled of a smooth slope toward the climax.
Just like A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, in terms of graphics, is still regarded in the same high quality graphics and equally marvelous plot fit for the young and elder intellect (like mine at 22). Although I would love to divulge all the action that takes place in in sequel to the first Toy Story, I won't. Instead, I'll tease you, young reader, into watching the movie and tell you the movie is one hell of a ride. The main characters -- Woody and Buzz Lightyear -- not only incite action-packed adventure within the household, they also get to ride a pick-up truck, get into an arcade store, and ultimately, finish their adventures (and emotional growth) in a big toy store! Woody gets to meet his "girl" (played by Joan Cusack - one of my favorite comedy actresses) and Buzz gets into a test of self-esteem.
The other characters are just as interesting and convincingly hilarious in Pixar slapstick fashion in tradition with A Bug's Life and Toy Story 1. You'll find the bloopers equally worth waiting for at the end of the movie.
In my opinion, Toy Story 2 is far better than Toy Story 1. All of the characters become more interesting and more mature. Now...regarding Toy Story 2 and A Bug's Life...well, I don't know. There's no point in comparing actually. Whatever.
Where's Bug's Life 2?
Post Script - For those of you who have access to French films, I suggest you watch either East West or Une Affair de Gous ("A Matter of Taste") Both are great.
(Can I advertise movies like this? Hehehe)
