Cons: exploding cow, lots of gore for the weak stomached
The Bottom Line: For an action-filled evening, based on the Gulf War... any GenXer would enjoy this movie, as long as they have a strong stomach for gore.
I was psyched to see this movie, and was even more psyched to tell everyone how great it was after I saw it for myself! I really was pleased with having spent my movie money well! The movie packed together so many different aspects and appeals that it's hard to classify as any specific kind of movie.
I laughed, I cried, I cringed (lots of icky blood and extreme shots of bullet repercussions) I was thoroughly entertained. Mark Wahlberg broke out of his Calvin Klein removing mold in my eyes, he showed some genuine acting qualities. Along with the rest of the cast, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed at the quality acting I saw come out of usually basic actors (who tend to take on generic parts.)
The storyline also provoked some interesting thoughts about what we as Americans were doing, or if we did anything, in the Gulf War. How might I have reacted, or hoped someone might have reacted in such a situation???
