Pros: Deep drama, excellent animation, great voice acting, severe violence.
Cons: Um ... none that I can think of off hand. ^_^x
The Bottom Line: Samurai X is an excellent 4 part precursor to Rurouni Kenshin. Plot, drama, story, fine animation, and great voice acting make this story a great one among anime.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
Samurai X is an excellent anime. The precursor to the popular anime series "Rurouni Kenshin," Samurai X is the story of how Battousai, the Legendary Manslayer was born.
Kenshin (which, by the way, means "devotion) was a boy when he lost everyone he ever cared about. Found my the master of the Hiten Mitsurugi style of swordsmanship, he was taken in and made a student.
A rebellious teenager, Kenshin left his master before his lessons were completed and became an assassin. He was good - the best, but as the revolution draws near, Kenshin's faith and courage are tested to their limits ...
If that isn't enough to attract your attention, watch a little Rurouni Kenshin. Then you'll really become curious as to what exactly caused Kenshin to become the man he is. There is a *lot* of blood and violence in this movie, and the story is probably too complicated for children to follow. I don't recommend it for the little ones at all.
My personal recommendations: I watched Trust and Betrayal in both English and Japanese. For some reason, I preferred English. I also prefer English for Rurouni Kenshin. Why? Well ... I prefer Kenshin to sound like a man and not a 10 year old kid ... no offense ... ^_^x
Also Recommended: Samurai X - Betrayal, Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai X - The Motion Picture.
