"Charlie's Angels" is good old plain fun. No, it's not an Academy contender, but it is a solid couple hours of good entertainment - just what a movie is supposed to be. Yes, it's campy; yes, it's cheesy; but it's supposed to be, and it doesn't overdo it.
This has got it all; amusing side plots that don't take over the entire movie; good gadgetry (the kind of stuff that Mission: Impossible 2 should have had), and the three lead actresses are just a pure pleasure to watch.
There are negative points, of course: the script is a little rough, the plot is simplistic, and the villains are predictable and too uniformly evil for my taste.
However, the production is slick and pretty, and the characters engaging enough that it was easy for me to overlook the above problems. Dylan, Alex, and Nat are the kind of girls I'd like to see my children take as role models - independent, daring, and always ready for a laugh. The Angels screw up from time to time, and aren't always as fast on the uptake as they could be, but this only serves to make them more human, and to make us cheer all the more when they come out on top in the end.
