American Pie 2 , released in 2001 is a continuation of the antics of the gang from American Pie. All of the original cast members return in this sequel but the story line has a few cracks and the development of the characters just kind of stopped at the end of the original movie. Don't get me wrong, it is still a funny movie and worth a viewing.

The Plot

American Pie 2 picks up with the gang as they finish up their first year of college and return home for the summer. Oz (Chris Klein), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), Jim (Jason Biggs), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) are determined to have a summer of fun. Kevin's brother tells him of all the fun he had back in the day when he stayed at the beach for the summer. They immediately start the search for the perfect beach house but the expense causes for the inclusion of the Stifler (Seann William Scott).

The guys all move in together and begin their summer with a party, what else? They are determined to meet girls and have fun. They guys all have their own love interests, some old and some new (sorry no spoilers!). And Finch, just wants to hold on to the memories of nailing Stifler's mom. Will he ever see her again?

Enough of the guys, but this sequel didn't focus much on the gals. The girls return in their former roles also. Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), returns to give Jim some tips along with more stories that begin with, "One time at band camp...", as well as Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), Vickie (Tara Reid) and Heather (Mena Suvari).

Jim's dad (Eugene Levy) also returns in the sequel but doesn't have near the air time as before. He still offers his classic advice and shows up at the wrong time!

Join the gang as they carry their usual antics to high places and keep you laughing. You will find the usual humor here but American Pie 2 takes a turn down the crude side. You will find a couple of totally gross parts so make sure you don't watch this before dinner!

My Thoughts On American Pie 2

I enjoyed this movie. You can't help but laugh when a movie is generally funny. I have to say that American Pie 2 was a bit disappointing in the way that the characters were not totally developed in this movie. There was so many places to add to the story line with the relationships but it all fell short and centered on the guys only. The girls all had minor parts and were always in the background.

I think this movie had it's moments but sure could of used more development in the roles of the girls and Jim's dad. It still has all the sex, crude humor, wild antics as the original movie but leaves you thinking that it could have been so much better. A change in the director for this movie was a big mistake in my opinion.

A couple of scenes will just crack you up with goofball humor. Michelle brings classic roll on the floor laughter with her band camp stories. She comes off as a dorky girl but is that her true self or just a front?

If you liked the first movie, you will enjoy this one as well. Just don't expect a big story line. If you thought the first one was bad, this one seems to be even worse. It's all PARTY! And SEX!

Recommendation

I recommend this movie to all adults (or very mature teens over 16). It contains profanity, nudity, sex and very crude humor. If you liked the first American Pie movie you will live this one also. I just wish that the character development would of been more complete. I give American Pie 2 4 Stars.
