Movie Overview
This movie is the sequel to American Pie, one of the biggest grossing teen comedies ever. American Pie 2’s whopping $45.1 million opening weekend, earned it the biggest opening for an R rated comedy in history. The script for the sequel was completely redone by ADAM HERZ (Screenwriter, Story, Executive Producer), the writer of the original. Herz made his feature film debut with American Pie, a project inspired by his Michigan upbringing. J.B. ROGERS (Director) made his directorial debut on Say It Isn't So after working with the Farrelly Brothers as assistant director on Kingpin, Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary and Me, Myself & Irene.
The story takes place one year after high school, when Kevin (Thomas Nicholas) wanted to recapture the great times of high school. He arranges for a reunion of sorts at a Lake Michigan beach house. Kevin is facing a long awaited and oddly troubling reunion with his high school sweetheart, Vicky (Tara Reid). He thinks he can handle just being friends until she show up looking amazing. Vicky experienced her first liberating year at college and is looking forward to building a real friendship with Kevin. Oz, (Chris Klein) is the hunk of the group who discovers that being committed in a relationship is difficult. His girlfriend Heather (Mena Suvari) is in search of independence by spending the summer abroad studying, and he must resist different forms of temptation, which no doubt often come in the form of nubile young women. Heather is sharing a flat with a crew of different people who have given her some new ideas about long distance relationships. Oz will have to concentrate in order to hold it together, especially with Stifler (Seann Scott) around mocking his ideals. Stifler is the bad boy party man who teases everyone and anyone he can, and often finds himself involved in disgusting accidents. He is an important part of the group because he is the guy who comes through when it counts, and down right funny to no end. Finch (Eddie Thomas) is the nonconformist of the group who devotes himself to study of human relationships. Finch is prepared to go on a journey to the ends of the earth to win his lady, which so happens to be Stifler’s Mom. Jim (Jason Biggs) the last guy in the Circle of friends is the terminally embarrassment prone guy whose embarrassing attempts at sexual discovery is the core comic relief in American Pie 2. His freshman year in collage had not added any sexual experience under his belt. An embarrassing end to his year went down when he had a girl over, his family and the girl’s family shows up unannounced catching them in the act. Jim receives news later that his Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) returns from the Czech Republic to finish what they started a year before. He has three months to get some moves; do you think he can make it? Nadia is a sweet and sexy Czech exchange student who enjoys being the object of Jim’s (and every heterosexual male’s) burning desire. Even though their last romantic fling got her deported, she’s willing to give Jim another shot at pleasing the temple goddess. In order for Jim to gain the knowledge and insight to please Nadia he turns to a one-night stand he had on prom night with Michelle (Alyson Hannigan). The flute playing “band geek” or as she was labeled in the first movie is now a counselor at band camp. Jim needs counseling so he turns to her for help. Jessica (Natasha Lyonne) was not in this movie very much as in the first one where she gave sage advice as; “It’s not a shuttle launch. It’s sex”. Jessica does however introduce a “Rule of Three, its an exact science”. Go catch this movie its worth it, with all these stories together it make a great hilarious movie. I would not have missed this movie for anything and glad I was there to see it.
Why Did I See This Movie?
I had seen the first American Pie and loved it, so I was sure that the second had to be just as good or better. I used this movie and Scary Movie 2 as my plea bargain chip for going to the movie that my wife picked out the night before (American’s Sweethearts). It was opening night for American Pie 2 at O’Fallon 15 Whearenburge Theater and packed to the gills (I was glad I got our tickets earlier that day). We showed up early to get good seats and we were not disappointed, Stadium seating makes viewing over tall people easy. That’s not a problem for me but for my wife, she hates it when she has to lean to one side to watch.
How Does This Movie Compare To Others I’ve Seen?
My wife and I enjoyed this movie; we were at a tear sometime that’s how funny it was. I compare this movie to Road trip because it’s a collage atmosphere that comes with the same type of humor. For example Seann Scott plays as E.L. in this movie, I get that same vibe of Stifler in his character he’s suave and smooth operator, but deep down is a bumbling idiot. For a quick synopsis of the movie Road TripJosh (Breckin Meyer) has a major problem. Besides the fact he’s in college in Ithaca, NY, his girlfriend Tiffany is in Austin, TX. A video of him getting funky with the luscious Beth (Amy Smart) was mistakenly mailed to Tiffany and now he has three days to get to Texas before the tape does!

I recommend this teen comedy for anyone who has seen the first American Pie other wise you would miss some of the story line. Another similar movie is Road Trip, or I would suggest for all ages is Cats & Dogs. Thank you for reading my epinion’s.
