Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot.
Some people -- writers (excuuuuuuuuussssse me!)-- honestly think a money-producing-actor (Arnold), a bit of action (and I do mean bit) and some local make for a blockbuster movie.
Not!
In between sleeping (my boyfriend's snores kept me awake during at least seventy percent of the movie), I was desperately trying to decide if there was no real script, no real plot, both, or just me.
All of the above, actually. However, I learned to say something positive, so here goes:
I honestly was hoping the terrorist's wife was really going to help America.
That's about it for positive. Even the cinematography wasn't worthwhile. How many times have you watched a bad movie, but at least the filming was somewhat good?
Speaking of America and terrorists, I do see why they did not air this movie after September Eleventh. Because I knew they purposely withheld the movie, it was all I could think about during the entire screening.
Anyway, the movie... uh, let's see. Arnold watches his wife and child die. I was wondering why the wife was an pretty much unknown (to me), but since she died after only a few minutes, why waste time and money on someone more famous?
What's a man to do? Go after the terrorists, himself, of course!
Hey! It's real believable, after all, wife worked in a hospital and Arnold is a firefighter. We all, know that means they are filthy rich and very combative and smart in the way someone who takes a terrorist on is.
And just in case you did not buy that, the film knows how stupid we are (the moviegoers) and they TELL us by saying, "You did your homework," whilest pointing to a map with lines drawn here, there and yonder.
Here's my favorite part: the evil terrorist -- the man who has no compassion for ANYONE -- is being hunted by Arnold. He orders everyone to stop him, to kill Arnold even killing a man by choking him with a live snake who messes up and let's Arnold get away...
A man who looks at his wife as if she is scum...
This horrible monster of a man actually captures Arnold, but doesn't kill him because... his wife asks him not to.
That's enough for me.
Others may say, "Well, true, but if you see the end, you will notice it was all a set up for the bigger picture."
Yeah, next time I plan a bombing, I will have to remember who happened to be in the public place I bomb, who will be killed, who will want and actually take revenge on the bomber by flying out and stalking him, so I can capture him and have my boyfriend pretend to save him so we can save the world.
There's no way around it: this movie was a huge bummer.
Sleep at home, at least you will be comfortable.
