Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
The transportation system in Tom's future world caught my eye more than the story-line! Who wouldn't love kicking back and leaving the driving to some master-system....with door-to-door delivery. And the computer operation system was pretty eye-catching...though I couldn't help but think my arms would get tired. Both helped me get through some of the slower parts of the movie.
But the movie's premise - that we will evolve to the point of being able to predict crime - seemed a bit of a stretch even for this die-hard sci-fi fan. I found the idea of being able to predict and prevent murder unbelievable. How often do we tell ourselves we encounter evil to "learn". If evil can be predicted and avoided, how would one ever learn? The sub-plot was the most plausible, and most depressing part of the movie theme. Though I keep hoping our evolutionary path would have us by-pass abusing others for personal gain, don't hold your breath - evil is alive and well in this particular future.
Tom's character is vibrant, athletic and compassionate...he is still a joy to watch on screen. Samantha Morton (Agatha, the Pre-Cog) is eerily fascinating...perhaps it is the blonde eye-lashes, but she reminds me a bit of Sissy Spacek in Carrie.
Overall, I think a bit more time could have been spent on story background to make a stronger movie, I got lost in the history of the Pre-Cogs, but the action was good and makes up for some of the lack.
