yotaruvegeta's Full Review: Kiddy Grade - Vol. 6: Mirror Image
Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot.
I could never have expected this after the final episode of volume 5. In "Look/Back" Eclair is recuperating from her wounds, with Lumiere looking after her. Ecalir has seemed to have lost her memory. Armblast looks on through an automated hovering "eye" camera placed in the room. I was totally fooled by this scene, because it has little directly to do with what happened in volume 5. This is all flashback, which seems to start from when Eclair loses her memory after some event, forcing her to learn everything she once knew. From there, scenes from the series flash forward to the present, where Eclair and Lumiere gave up their lives as G.O.T.T. ES members and fought against their former coworkers. The final scene involves Arblast giving a report of what has happened since that day. Shockingly, Armblast reveals that Lumiere and Eclair have become the heads of the G.O.T.T.!
Yes, it makes no sense. Yes, it is inconceivable that the two people who ended up liking the G.O.T.T. the least would become the most likely to take over the organization. What the hell is going on? Apparently, it has something to do with the GOTT Secretary Chevalier d'Autriche and the Novulesse. In "Phantasm/Reborn" Eclair is the Acting Chief of the G.O.T.T., with Lumiere at her side. Right away, something is absolutely not right with Lumiere and Eclair. Their voices are different, they are devoid of any cheerfulness and their plans for the GOTT are extremely militant. Dextera and Sinistra meet the Acting Chief and they get to meet the newest ES recruits. There are 6 pairs of new recruits, and they all look incredibly familiar. Hmm. It's so obvious who these "recruits" are, but I won't insult you by spelling it out. Once you watch this episode, it's so obvious. Apparently, Dextera and Sinistra aren't as quick to catch on, because even after being attacked by the recruits, it takes them a while to pick up on whose abilities these recruits are using. By the end of the episode, Eclair outlines her plans for the G.O.T.T. and two masked riders drive towards the GOTT press conference. Hmm, I wonder who those two riders could be?
Can you tell by my review that Acting Chief Eclair and Lumiere are not all they claim to be? It is obvious that something's up, but it's still a great twist whether you're in on it or not. In "Unmasked/Face" GOTT soldiers and the new ES recruits hunt down the helmeted intruders who interrupted Acting Chief Eclair's speech. Whoever these two are, Acting Chief Eclair has stopped at nothing to destroy them. Acting Chief Eclair finally comes face-to-face with the two intruders, and what a surprise. Ta-daa!
I do have to give a big thumbs down to the obviousness of what happened concerning Acting Cheif Eclair, Lumiere and their clone ES members, but still this was a surprising episode, especially with the "remodeling." Still, no spoiling will go on here. So when you watch the last few minutes of volume 6, you'll form a smile on your face as big as the one I had.
Extras for volume 6 include the usuals, like the image gallery, trailers and character profiles. This volume's ES force team dossier focuses on the mute Cesario and the loud little girl Viola. Cesario and Viola have abilities that they can only use when they work together.
