Pros: 1) affordable built-in wireless; 2) light-weight; 3) very user-friendly WHILE affordable
Cons: "power saving mode" that lulls the computer into deadly slumber if left inactive for long
The Bottom Line: Final recommendation: make the purchase without any regrets - I didn't find a better competitor - in fact, someone returned their Dell after seeing my Acer

As a graduate student - a laptop is a must - so is speed, versatility, and affordability - and this Acer meets all those requirements and more. Here is the lowdown: built-in wireless technology (I got a promotional deal in which Acer was actually giving away a wireless router - imagine the freedom of taking your laptop to the washroom instead of the paper); *light-weight* -finding a laptop with all the features required to be functional and still be affordable is a challenge Acer met - I ride my bike to and from my research lab with my handy little Acer on my back (note: I am a 100 lb gal and manage this burden with ease); CD/DVD combo drive with easy to use software installed - say goodbye to expensive zip disks for data storage; 8 hrs of battery power! (perfect for conference travel and presentations); and a "smart card" for added security to ensure no nosy personnel have access to your computer data when away from the desk. All this with Windows Professional XP and a competitive warranty. Neither a post-secondary student nor a professional business person could really ask for anything more for this price. My lab colleagues were so impressed with my little laptop that 2 others purchased it after viewing mine. If that doesn't spell good value - then I don't know what does.
