| rtyj's Full Review: ASUS PC-DL Deluxe Motherboard |
The PC-DL is a wonderful board, but is a high-end board. Do not go cheapy on the board, not when you have spent the big bucks. I thought everyone bought the motherboard and then READ the manual for all the specifics. (Every MOBO has something in the manual you never see on the overall vendor specs. ANYONE whom has ever built up a system should know to buy the motherboard first then, the CPU/'s and RAM. Geeezzzz
The MOBO worked just fine for me with 2.66 XEON CPU's and 2gig Kingston PC2700 (333) Ram.
Specs:
1.) XEON 2.66ghz 533fsb CPU x2
2.) Kingston Hyper-X 2700 (333) 2gig (512 x4 matched sets)
3.) ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 128meg RAM
4.) Vantec 450 watt PS
5.) Maxtor SATA Diamond Max 10 120gig HDD and Maxtor PATA Diamond Max 9 80gig
6.) Swiftech Helical pin heat sink w/80mm fans x2
7.) Toshiba DVD-R/CD-RW Combo
8.) Sony 52x CD-RW
9.) Teac Floppy
10.) Window Super-Flower Case with internal lights
I threw in all the parts for any interested persons. I built one for a customer and it worked so well I built one for myself. This is my best flagship PC. I have many other high-end systems running all ASUS MOBO's like P4C533-E, P4C800-E, P4C800SE, A7V600 and on and on. The only PC's that even come close to this Bad-Lad is the new Dual-Core Processor types and even an AMD is maxed out at 939 pins and Xeon with 604x2 = 1208 pins for data transfer on CPU's. Never had any trouble - except the video card AGP slot does not have a locking tab on this older version and if you clean or move the PC the video card will not work until you properly install the video card in the slot. (Just press on it and it will re-seat and work fine.) I did buy the new revision MOBO and will keep it as a spare as I do not see in the near futer this PC becoming slow nor obsoleted by the 'NEW' technology. (Even the new PCIe Video slots will be changed with a new type Video Card to get away from bridging two together - just like dual core CPU's so I would wait - look what happened to RAMBUS and Blu-Ray just for examples)
That is it for all the whinners out there that just can't/won't use common sense to read once in a while. I have so many customers that will not read and install software or hardware and I am fixing it for them - all becouse they did not want to read. Geeeezzzzzz
Don't blame ASUS nor the board for the operator errors.
duh.....
