The Decision
After much research on the subject of Carpet Cleaners and having owned a few in the past we settled on this one. Numerous Epinions articles and Consumer Reports and a special sale at a BIG BOX store convinced us that this was the best buy for our money.
It probably was the best buy for our money at the time that we bought it.
Longevity
It worked very well for about a year and a quarter.
The overall cost of buying the machine and using it for a year or so as opposed to professional cleaners is supposed to make up for its early demise. The general cost of repair is prohibitive. Thus, the industry has evolved into producing machines that are DISPOSABLE. Although it worked extremely well while we had it, I am too environmentally aware to approve of mass produced disposable junk.
Cleaning Power
The general functionality of this machine is excellent. I have a very light color carpet and it works great. I can see it pick up all kinds of dirt and grime. With the attachments, I can do my stairs, throw rugs, upholstery, and my dog (just kidding).
ERGONOMICS
It has a nice long hose for those hard to get places.
It is bulky but so are all the others. This is no better or worse than my old hoover. The cord could be longer.
The water tank has a bladder, So there is only one tank for filling and draining which is more convenient than two separate tanks..
OVERALL
I would buy a Hoover. I have been talking to a lot of repairmen lately and they seem to recommend them over this one.
