| reeterms's Full Review: Bosch WFMC 3200 Front Load Washer |
LOW water usage; only 56 minutes for a regular wash cycle; (a leading consumer magazine recently reported that the time for a wash cycle is 110 minutes but that is incorrect! That is the time for the longest cycle; one you would use for incredibly dirty clothes.)
After always owning a TL and talk of our water rates doubling this year, I decided it was time to focus. I looked at every FL on the market that I could find and liked the way the Bosch was built and the fact that it only uses about 6 gallons of water for an average load.
This machine is QUIET. Even at top spin speed, we can't hear it upstairs. It is easy to use. For a basic load, all you do is turn the dial to the cycle that you want, add the detergent and close that little lid, and then push the start button which locks the doors and starts the cycle.
The detergent/bleach access is NOT a drawer. You just lift the lid and pour it into the slot. The cycle sprays water into that compartment so it is sparkling clean at the end of each cycle.
The higher spin speed pulls alot more water out of the clothes so at the end of the cycle they are just barely damp! So this means you need less drying time. I can dry a full load in 30 minutes now using my old dryer. 20 min if it is a light load like my husbands shirts. (It took 50-55 min with the old TL.)
You will love this machine!
Feb 2007 update: For the last year we've had trouble with mildew in the grey "boot" around the front door of this machine. This was never a problem with our old TL. Recently someone told me to try a load of old towels with Cascade Complete and that did remove the mildew smell. But having to deal with this has been frustrating and disappointing to say the least. Bosch did (in the last week) offer to replace the boot when I called them, and we are waiting on that. Our water usage has dropped substantially with our change to using this front loader and it has otherwise been trouble-free. I would still recommend this machine and Bosch customer service was very good when I did call them.
