Pros: I love the style, the size, and the feel of the camera.
Cons: Audio and video quality problem is bad. Battery life is bad.
The Bottom Line: It was the "best looking" camera when we brought it last year. Today, there are better choices.

| vtdl's Full Review: Canon Elura 40MC Mini DV Camcorder |
When we looked for a compact video camera for our Japan trip a year ago, I looked for features and my wife looked for style. When we saw the Elura 40MC, we both felt in love immediately. It was a great looking camera, felt great, easy to handle, and lightweight. I brought a waist camera-bad which was great for the family trip. We were very happy at one point in time.
After we came back, I discovered a few really bad problems. First, the video quality is not very good. There are consistence noise throughout that is worse than my old Sony. Its auto-focus is slow, and has explosure trouble in low-light. And there is no "back-light" mode.
The other really annoying problem is the recorded sound would skip once every a few seconds or so. It partically ruins the some special moments. At first, I thought it was my tape. Then I tried different tape and different brand. They all have the same problem. One thing I noticed is they are worse at the begin of the tape. Maybe that has something to do with it.
So, I tried to contact Canon customer support, and they sent me a list of FAQ which none answers the question I am looking for. Then they sent a survey if I were happy with the support. I told them "No", and haven't heard back from them.
