Pros: Great size, stabilization, LCD, colour quality and lens quality.
Cons: LED Light terribly bright (good thing?) Battery in box is weak
The Bottom Line: Hip, sexy, stylish. This Camera has a great image and produces them too! If you're looking for a great upper range consumer cam, this thing is FUN and HIGH END!

I purchased the Canon Elura 65 as part of a special Canon purchasing program and I can say without a doubt that even at full price this camera is worth every penny. Bright, vivid colour simply makes the images breathtaking. First day usage included a birthday party at a darkened restaurant - it handled it with no problems - the LED light would have given a brighter image, however it seemed to blind my subjects a bit.
Snapping pictures while shooting video is a great feature - I bought a 256 meg card to go with it. This camera also does Canon's famed hardware panoramic stitch assist - a *really* cool feature that lets you stitch three 1.33MP images into a single higher res panoramic image (great for 4x12 prints!)
Motornoise is low, however it will be picked up in quiet situations. The camera has a mic input so you can avoid that if needs be. The LCD is HUGE for a camera this size, gorgeous.
One of my favorite features is the true 16x9 wide mode. I owned another camcorder that used a "16x9" mode - however, it stretched the image. The Canon makes full use of it's wide sensor, giving you more picture as opposed to less. Great results that really show up on larger TV's!
I love the fact that this camera uses the same battery as my Canon Powershot S30. I bought a spare battery for it (I've got two for my S30 and two for my Elura 65). You NEED to pick up a second battery when you buy it, the NB-2LH in the box is FAR too anemic to provide enough power (only downside). Extra batteries for this model are dead cheap though.
I didn't see a need to upgrade to the 70 - the wide angle adapter can be procured cheaply enough online and the extra 2X optical zoom didn't seem worth it. I don't generally zoom past 10x opt even with the vastly superior image stabilization that's found on the Elura 65. - On that note, it stabilized the image even when I was on my MOTORBIKE. Now THAT'S a stablizer!
