| sgroer's Full Review: Canon MultiPASS MP730 All-In-One InkJet Printer |
I was one of the first people to get this printer, and I gotta say it is absolutely phenomenal. The speed of black and white and color is great (able to print close to advertised speed) . The clarity of an 8 X 10 photo on glossy paper is photo shop quality. While the price to purchase this beauty is initially more, with the "Think Tank" system you'll make up for it when it comes time to refill the ink. The "Think Tank" system affords you the ability to change one color instead of all at once. You can get the refills for $1.95 per color (including black) from several Internet vendors. I got sick of paying $35 for refills, which was one of the features that initially attracted me to this MFD. I am so thrilled with every aspect of this printer. The controls are very intuitive, and everything is in the right place. The setup was a snap. Just remember to install the CD BEFORE you plug in the USB cable from the printer to the computer. The output and the capabilities are all amazing... It scans quickly and scanning quality is relatively good. I tried OCR and it seemed to work well with the scanner. It prints very quickly and quietly. I have not had a paper jam yet, and I'd say I've printed over 200 pages on it. It has a large paper reservoir, which I like. Even in color, I was impressed with the speed. It's considerably faster than my old Lexmark. The fax machine works like a fax machine should. You can either feed the documents automatically for multi page faxes or place them directly on the flatbed glass for single page documents. The auto document feeder works well... no jams or misfeeds to speak of. You can scan and fax even legal size documents (14"). What also is nice is that you can fax directly from your PC apps (such as MS WORD) through the MP730. It's nice not to have to print it out and put it in the fax machine. I have used the digital card reader to download photos, and it works as well as hooking up the digital camera directly to the PC. Definitely more convenient too. Overall, I couldn't be more happy about this MFD. I can't imagine anyone not being ecstatic with this purchase as it seems from my pre-purchase research that this is the best attempt at a true all in one device by any company to date. It looks cool too! Enjoy.
