Pros: Incredible tweeters!
Great mid range
Cons: Weak bass handling, need to be used with subs as part of a system
The Bottom Line: They are a great buy, you can't get any better tweeters than these.

| plforte's Full Review: Alpine SPX-137A Car Component System |
If I had to choose one word to describe these speakers it would be Beautiful. I have these in the front of my car as part of a system I installed last summer (02). I also have in the back seat a pair Inifity Kappa components. They're both connected to two separate Alpine T-320 200 watt amps. The main difference between the two is the tweeters. The Infinity tweeters are decent, especially hooked up to the amp but the alpine cones are markably better. They are much more crisp and sharp and hit with incredible precision. I only paid $265 for them online but they would still be a great buy at the retail price of $400. I would also like to comment on the accuracy of the mid range. They sound very real and very present. I would recommend these speakers to anyone. One small problem however, and this may be due to the fact that the woofer is only 5", with out subs to back it up they lack holding power with the bass. I have independent high pass filter on my head unit which is always set at 125hz (front and back) as well on the T320 amps, which of course is also used. Since I have subs I don't need any bass from my car speakers. The woofers are only for mid range. But without subs and even with a 200 watt amp they distort very easily without.
Above all, these are fantastic speakers!
