Did a side-by-side comparison with Bombay Sapphire and regular Tanqueray. Aroma is noticeably less alcoholic than the other two, and exceptionally more complicated (Tanq is the simplest of the three)...very floral, plus grass, straw, herbs/spices, wood, lemon, orange, coriander, and of course juniper (just what I get from it, I haven't looked at the list of botanicals on the bottle yet)...and other subtleties that come and go that I can't begin to describe...something akin to what beer geeks refer to as "house character" (though that certainly may be a phrase used in other critical circles)...a unique aroma that you don't encounter in other breweries (or in this case, distilleries). Flavor leans a bit to the sweet side compared to the others, has more body and an almost oily texture. Slightly less burning than the others. I used to drink Bombay Sapphire pretty much exclusively (by itself, neat, no ice/water), but this is really a more suitable gin for that purpose. I might choose Sapphire for a martini, but for straight sipping this is magnificent.
