Pros: Ahtlon64 Processor, free upgrades, NVIDIA GeForce card, awesome display, excellent value.
Cons: Somewhat heavy, but not as heavy as cheaper dell models.
The Bottom Line: For the money, I was able to get everything I wanted and then-some. Normal users can save even more by going with smaller features. Great bargin for this powerhouse!

For $1300, I couldn't ask for a better bargin. This laptop was shipped and arrived TWO days before its estimated shipping date. It was suppose to be shipped Dec 29, and I received it on the 27th! Free two-day shipping was a perk with this particular purchase, and FedEx had it here even before I was giving a tracking number to confirm it!
I added a load of features to the standard Presario 3000z laptop. The biggest chunk of my money went into upgrading the memory to the 1GB (2x 512MB) setup; this from the standard 256MB. I also stayed with the 15.4in Widescreen and opted for the 5400RPM 80 gig drive. The video card was my biggest issue with previous laptops, so I went with the 64MB NVIDIA video card. Other upgrades included the 12 cell battery, WiFi w/ Bluetooth (free upgrade at the time), and the free upgrade to the CDRW/DVD drive.
My main reason for purchasing this was to have the mobile ability to capture and render video. This NVIDIA card has the dedicated 64MB video as well as the built-in 4-pin Firewire connection. My initial test to capture 120 seconds of video was succesful without any system lag. Other tests proved well, too, so my search for a video capturing laptop has ended. The 1GB RAM and Athlon 64 processor also help in the task. The video card also supports very well my SimCity 4 and The Sims 2 games on their highest settings. SimCity 4 ran extremely well; The Sims 2 also ran very very well!
Burning CDs is cake, and watching DVDs is nice, especially on the 15.4 widescreen! The WXGA screen is great; very bright and can be seen from just about any angle without any loss of visuality. It plays DVDs very smooth and crisp!
