Pros: Looks very slick and stylish.
Sound quality excellent. (Not just for it's size)
Compact size.
Cons: No volume knob.
Controls all on top side
Remote a bit ugly.
The Bottom Line: If you can still find one of these systems, Buy it! You are getting a system that far out performs it's size, and, in my opinion, it's budget!

| mike080381's Full Review: JVC FS-MD9000 CD Shelf System |
I believe this was the European Compact System of the year in 1998-9, and there is good reason for this. In my opinion, it was the best mini system on the high street, and I have yet to find better in since I bought mine 5 years ago. It isn't without it's faults though. Some find the lack of volume knob (being up & down buttons) annoying, and with all the controls on the top, some find it quite unergonomical. However, the MD, CD and Radio are all of a good quality, as expected from JVC. The biggest surprise is the sound! Although not the loudest stereo out there, it can blow the pants of every other micro / mini system, and a lot of midi's that I have listened to. The sound quality is very clear, which is surprising considering the small size of these speakers (approx 4wide X 6tall X 8deep inches). The treble is clear and sharp, and the bass is one of the best things about this system... If you hear it, you expect to see a speaker at least ten times the size... Thats about all I can say really.. Oh, and the remote is a bit ugly, but never mind!
Overall, a great system...
