gatewaylorrie's Full Review: Danby DDW396 22 in. Portable Dishwasher
I love it. It was very easy to set up, everything needed was included. The hose has a quick connect/disconnect adapter inluded. I HATE to handwash dishes, I am single working girl who, in the past, used paper plates to avoid the nasty task of dishwashing. I thought I would give this a try. I don't remember what I paid, but it really wasn't much. It fits everything. I tend to wait until I have alot to do, but even that might only take two loads. One for plates, bowls, glasses and silverware. One for a few pans and stuff, even casserole dishes. There is a prerinse cycle for stuff that sat, a short cycle and a long cycle. Any of these can be turned into a sanitizing cycle by the push of a button. It super heats the water. Although there isn't a dry cycle, the water was so hot, that one it completes the final rinse, I just open the door about an inch and the stem and heat dries the dishes great. You'll have to do this anyway because the dishes are scorching hot. Its amazing how much you can squeeze into it. There is a removeable rack, so that you can arrange larger pans. There is also a removeable silverware basket. I still recommend rinsing before you put in. Sometimes dried on stuff doesn't come off great. Use cascade, there is a seperate spot for it, to minimize haze on glasses. Other than that, its great. Saves me alot of time and aggravation. As for the size, you will need some counter space. Some people put it on a rolling cart, but that seems like a pain to me. I fit it on the counter where I used to let my dishes drain. It takes about the same amount of space length and depth wise. It is a bit taller so measure before you buy to make sure it will fit where you want it to go. My electric bill has not gone up, nor has my water bill so that's a bonus as well. I would recommend this for any single person or couple who prefers not to do the dishes.
Update feb 2006, still running strong. A few leaks on the counter from time to time, but nothing major.
Update 10/22/06, I think I am going to call it quits on this one, had a major leak coming from bottom of drawer, upon trying to troubleshoot, the inside of the window came right off, with no real way to reconnect it. I suspect that is where the leak may be coming from. Another note, from time to time, the wash cycle timer would get stuck, I would just manually move it ahead and it would finish no problem. I am bummed, but I had it a few years so, I think it was worth the money I spend and someone actually may be able to fix these types of problems if they were handyer than I am. I would still recommend it.
When the dishes are starting to pile up, the Danby Countertop Dishwasher will provide functionality and convenience. Great for small kitchens with a l...More at Target
