I come here not so much to praise the game, but to praise Blizzard.
Don't get me wrong. Diablo II is one of the best things that has happened to my Mac. I have an older G3 266 with only the on-board video card and 160 MB of RAM - yet this game still performs very well. Last night was the first time I had gotten out to Battle.net and while it was laggy, I have a 33.6 modem so I wasn't expecting much, it was still very enjoyable and I plan to go out there a lot.
Having said all of that, I would like to add that Blizzard has stood by the Mac platform for quite sometime. Blizzard has been there since Warcraft and has consistently produced great games for a great machine. While they tend to release the Mac version second, they usually also include a PC version with it and they have made sure we can participate with the others out on Battle.net.
Blizzard is a model company - everyone in the computer game industry can learn a lesson from them.
I'm sharpening my axe waiting for the expansion set!
