Pros: Good price, does the job, digital setting and display.
Cons: Noisy.
The Bottom Line: Nice unit except for the noise, not suitable for a living area but good for a basement.

| jabba2000's Full Review: Fedders A7DH45B2A Dehumidifier |
I had to get a new dehumidifier for my basement after my prior one malfunctioned (coils iced up constantly). I liked this one for several reasons: Good price (137 at Walmart.com, plus shipping, still cheaper than comparable ones in stores), nice digital display on top, and works at low temperatures (good for basement use; only the cheapest units do not make this claim nowadays). Also the unit can empty directly into a sump pit so I do not have to manually empty the container.
I like the digital setting of the desired humidity level. I also like that it digitally displays either the current room humidity level or temperature (need to choose one or the other). I think it cycles on and off a lot (runs 2 min, off 2 min, runs 2 min) - in a big room I'd expect it to run and then be off for a longer time interval, but it's not a big deal. I find it strange that the dehumidified air blows straight up out of the top of the unit toward the ceiling, rather than angled into the room.
The only real complaint I would have is that the unit is terribly noisy. This comes mostly from the plastic construction. The plastic pail and the plastic side enclosure vibrates when the motor is running and makes it very noisy. I would say this unit is unacceptable for use in a living space, but Ok if you're going to put it in the basement.
