I had bought a Canon Rebel 2000 about two years ago and when the Ti came out I felt it was time to upgrade.
The casing scratched the first time I took my camera out. I have heard others make the same comment, so as I feared it seems to be common.
The buttons are harder to figure out in comparison to the Rebel but they are not impossible. If this is your first camera please do not expect to go out a take professional pictures until you have spent some time learning the features.
A good feature is that the controls are close to your shooting finger, which is convenient when you are trying to capture an unexpected shot. Also, the display area is clearer and easier to understand then the Rebel.
I particularly liked the lightweight body which is helpful after a days hike.
The flash takes awhile to pop up when the lighting is low but it is worth the wait because the quality is excellent. Also, the shutter speeds were faster than any other camera I have used.
Another good feature is the auto-focus, which is a higher quality than its predecessor (rebel 2000), I did not have to wait as long for a shot to focus!
I had e-mailed customer support to help with my metering and they were very prompt and courteous. They were a bit unclear on how to fix my problem but they sent me too another customer service agent and they were able to offer further assistance.
Overall, the Ti was well made (minus the casing) and the features were excellent. I would recommend buying some accessories such as an outside lighting system, a padded bag, and a zoom lens for those hard to see shots.
