Pros: liked it while it lasted (4 mns)...
Cons: tv stopped working, costly to have fixed, now junk!
The Bottom Line: Very unsatisfied and disappointed customer. I thought this was a great deal, but it turns out you get what you pay for.

| bigfish31's Full Review: Gateway PLSM42TV 42 in. EDTV-Ready TV |
I purchased this tv from a GTW country store when they closed last march/april. The tv stopped working in July - it was nice while it lasted (4 mns). The thing that gets me is that the manufacture date on the tv is 08/2003... the tv went bad less than a year after it was manufactured but since I bought it from the store display there was no warranty! And it is not even possible to purchase an extended warranty on the product (I guess that says how much they stand behind them.) When I first called about it, GTW estimated $1000 to fix it and I decided to hold off. Now they are estimating $1000-$1500 (I thought the cost might have gone down since the tvs are "on sale" now for 2/3 of their original price.) What a waste my time on tech support to try and get the issue resolved. Just like many other people, the image board is bad in my tv - since this is such a big problem you'd think Gateway would be interested in going the extra mile to earn back their customers trust in their product and their brand but it is obvious they are not interested in helping us out. It is so sad to see my 42" hd plasma tv sitting on the floor in front of my regular crt. I have no idea how to get rid of it. I am shopping for a new plasma now, and it will not be a Gateway!
