You never know what to expect when you choose a hotel by searching the internet. Thank goodness our recent trip to Bend Oregon was not a disappointment.
We booked a room for one night at the AmeriTel Inn, Bend. The hotel is located in the Old Mill District of Bend, along the Deschutes River. We got a little lost getting there because it is somewhat off the beaten path. You cannot see the hotel from the freeways, so I highly recommend a good map. We used an online map source and got a little lost, however it could have been driver's error.
Once you walk in the front door of the AmeriTel you are greeted by warmth. There is a comfortable sitting area surrounded by a stone fireplace. It was summer when we visited but I would imagine in the winter you would feel as if you were in a ski lodge.
To the right of the lobby is a big area that is used for the complimentary breakfast. This area was well planned with a separate sitting area for eating your breakfast and a seperate kitchen/serving area. These two areas do not interfere with each other. At some hotels you have to weed through tables and stand in line in front of people trying to eat and enjoy their breakfasts to get to the food. AmeriTel did a great job designing this area of the hotel.
Checking In - Checking in was a breeze. We were the second in line and they had two people that were assisting in the check in process. We were given our keys and a brief speech about when and where breakfast would be served.
The only complaint that I had was as soon as the gal behind the desk handed us our key, the phone rang and she answered it; dismissing us. We tried to get her attention to see which way our room was, but she did not acknowledge us.
Our Room - Our room was on the third floor. We opened the door to our room and we were surprised. There was a comfortable sitting area and a set of stairs leading up to the second floor. Our hotel room seemed like a small apartment. We took a quick tour of our room and settled in for a nice stay.
Downstairs: The sitting area is equipped with a microwave, small refrigerator, a television and a couch that could easily seat three people.
There is a bathroom with a bathtub/shower combination and of course a toilet.
The bedroom area consists of a dresser and a 4-poster bed, which was very comfortable.
In the bedroom there is a door that leads to an outdoor patio that had a table and 4 chairs. Our view was the river and off in the distances you could see the mountains.
Upstairs Loft: When you walk up the stairs to the second floor you are greeted by a huge spa bath tub in the corner of the loft. As you sit in the bath you can look out the windows at your beautiful view or you could watch television. We did not utilize the spa, but what a nice addition.
Ammenities A few of the extras to the hotel....
24-hour indoor pool, spa, & fitness center all located on the first floor
Complimentary deluxe breakfast, which includes your usual pastries, but a whole lot more. The day we were there they had sausage, eggs, potatoes, made to order belgin waffles and wide variety of fruits and cereal.
Fresh baked cookies served in the evening. They had several different types of cookies from chocolate chip to oatmeal raisin. The smell of the fresh baked cookies was heavenly.
Free high-speed Internet access
What is nearby?? Just down the hill from the hotel, a 5 minute walk are shops and restaurants. There are stores like Bath and Body and Gap, there are also several restaruants like Red Robin, Quiznos and Ben & Jerry's. There is also a movie theater, so once you park at the AmeriTel you never really have to leave.
What did we pay??? Just over $120.00 for the night, it was well worth it.
