I got this set on sale for $525 and it is worth every cent.
I compared it to sets by Samsung and others and for the price you really cannot beat the picture quality! Convergence and resolution are terrific for a low end model like this. JVC put their manufacturing costs into the picture tube and electronics and it shows!
If you are picky and have a critical eye, you will notice an overabundance of red blooming. You would have to calibrate the set to minimize this artifact, but in general viewing it is not a big issue.
Sound is OK, but I only used it a few times before routing the audio through my A/V receiver. I haven't heard any TV with really great sound, even those that cost $2,000. If you want really good sound you have to go the A/V receiver route with Dolby Digital and DTS.
The remote is really good. Fills your hand and has a lot of function, can be used with other JVC components.
In appearance the cabinet is relatively sleek for a direct view TV of this size. The front to back and width dimensions are relatively small so you can fit it into most TV cabinets.
If you can afford it, go to one of the JVC "D" models, but if you are on any kind of budget you will really like this set!
