| adnad2's Full Review: JVC DR-MV1 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo |
I purchased one of these units for our church's AV system. Once it arrived we had it installed in the sound booth and tested it. Everything seemed to be working just fine, but about a week later the machine started to malfunction. In the middle of playing a movie it would just turn itself off. Sometimes it would stop playing the movie start flashing "Loading" on the display.
After that it would sometimes scramble its DVD signal, so all you could see on the screen was green static.
The VHS also sends loud static pops to both the audio and video during playback.
I tried to call JVC for help, but was lead through the teleprompt maze to call an authorized repair shop. I couldnt find a way to talk to a real human.
Anyway, we took it to an authorized JVC repair shop. They told me that there was nothing wrong with the machine. Since then, not only are all original problems still present, but it now no longer dubs from DVD to VHS or from VHS to DVD. Just recently the time record option has also decided to stop working.
Maybe we got a lemon, but why risk it? There are other DVD-R Combo's on the market. My advice is to avoid this product.
