| DJinPA7's Full Review: Kenmore 15872 Dishwasher |
I have had my Kenmore Elite Dishwasher for about 5 years now. I was so excited to get it as it was my first major appliance in my new home.
I picked this model because I liked all the features it has.
You can choose if you want to simply rinse the dishes to wash later, or you can use several different wash settings. Pots and Pans being the longest setting to get the heavy amounts of food off the dishes and pots. There is a regular cycle that takes about 65 minutes. I like to use the Miser cycle, it's a bit shorter time and does a good job of cleaning the dishes.
There are other options such as Heat water and Air Dry or No Dry. I tend to go with the lowest setting possible to save on the electric bill.
I do enjoy the feature that allows me to lower or raise the top rack so I can fit more in. That is nice but as time goes on, I notice it is not as easy to use. Here in Allentown, we have extremely hard water. It's hard to keep the buildup from slowing everything down.
First thing I noticed when we bought it and had it installed was that although they claim it is silent, it is far far from silent. If we had a kitchen not attached to our living room it would be good but since we live in a small home, I can hear that dishwasher even upstairs when I am in bed for the night. :(
I am not happy lately with the soap "drawer". It's not opening and releasing the soap. This doesn't seem to be cleaning the dishes. So I wind up running the washer again. Not good when trying to conserve on the electric bill!
I have also started to experience leaking. Water just seems to be coming from no where. Yes I need someone to come out and look at it but let's face it, that costs money that I don't have right now. So there are attractive Tupperware bowls on the floor catching water.
Overall I would say that this has been a pretty decent dishwasher. I won't say it was worth the amount of money we paid for it. I think the brand name, Kenmore is a pretty good one but I recommend doing a lot of homework before spending that much money again.
