I have always purchased Kenmore products...until now. Last year (13 months ago) I purchased all Kenmore appliances for my new home. This evening my Kenmore Elite dryer would not operate. The motor would turn only while depressing the start button. After reading numerous reviews online about this same problem, I called Sears Customer Service in hope that they would offer a no-cost repair (after all, it's one month past warranty). The first rep offered no assistance other than schedule a tech to come and diagnose the problem. I asked to speak to a manager... I was referred to the National Cust Svc center. I spoke to two individuals with the same outcome...no offer to repair at no-cost, even after mentioning the numerous complaints I observed online. I even offered to replace the board myself, if they would send me the part. Irritated at this point, I thanked them and indicated I will never purchase another Kenmore product (or Whirlpool for that matter). I proceeded to disassemble the dryer (I'm an engineer) and went straight to the Even Heat Electronic assembly. After one pinched finger and a cut knuckle, I discovered three burned resistors on the board. I intend to repair it at work tomorrow, then follow-up with Sears to see if they will send the redesigned version of the board. I intend to post my results after the outcome.
