Pros: Very compact, ideal for traveling
Cons: Has no zoom, uses expensive film
The Bottom Line: Despite the pretty colors and travel-friendly size, it doesn't make up for the no zoom and expensive film. I wouldn't recommend it.

| stuff_n_stuff's Full Review: Kodak Advantix T40 Film Camera |
My experience with this camera was not a good one. Nor is it an experience I like to remember. But to prevent others from making the same mistake as I did, I'm writing this review.
The camera was a Christmas gift from my sister. She had heard from my husband that I'd been wanting a new camera, prefferably a small one, (I tend to tuck it in my purse, and my old one was rather bulky) so she purchased the Kodak Advantix T40. And I was thrilled when I tore the shiny green wrapping paper off of the package Christmas day. It truly looked like a great camera. It was very small, ideal for travel, but didn't seem to be like a disposable camera, it looked like it was very good quality. I thanked my sister, and tore open the plastic packaging.
It came with two batteries, and the camera only took one, so there was a back up. (Unfortunatley I can't recall what type of battery it was)
The camera also came with a roll of film. "Advantix" film. A special kind of film. $18.00 for a three pack film. (I found out the price later)
But on Christmas day, caught up in the excitment of watching my daughter open her new Barbie doll, (and eager to snap a photo,) I popped the film into the camera. I noticed it was different, and smaller, but figured the camera would also use normal sized 200 film, too.
I was immediately disapointed that the camera had no zoom. It was, in a way, just like a disposable camera. Just shiny. And silver. But I shrugged it off, and started snapping photos left and right, just a little closer to the subject than I would have been had the camera had a zoom lense.
24 exposures later, I reached into my purse for the spare roll of film I'd brought, (the normal 200 film) only to discover it didn't fit in the drop in loading hole. I figured the camera only took the "Advantix" film.
So a week later, at my local Wal-mart, in the camera section, I discovered the price of the "Advantix" film. ($18.00 for three rolls) As a full fledged cheapskate and bargain hunter, (why else would I be at Wal-Mart?) I was shocked at the outrageous price.
Luckily my sister and I are very close, and I was able to explain my dissatisfaction with her gift. I later exchanged it for a better camera, and now I happily buy my 200 film in a $5.99 five pack.
But what made me mad about this whole thing is that the packaging of the Advantix T40 camera said NOTHING about the camera only using the special kind of film, for obvious reasons. So people won't check out the "Advantix" film, and see the outrageous pricing. And while I'm sure many people who make $250,000 a year love the Advantix camera, I'd rather feed my children than spend twenty bucks on film.
