| jmrm5's Full Review: Dell Latitude C600 (220-6670) PC Notebook |
The Dell Latitude C600 really is a mobile solution for those who need computing power on the road. Like myself, since I am a salesman. This is the third Dell notebook my company has provided for me in the 4 years I have been working for them, and to date this one is the best. My last notebook my company provided was a Panasonic Toughbook.
The Dell Latitude C600 is one fast machine. It ships with a Pentium 3 processor that zooms by at an impressive 850MHz with 128MB of RAM standard. The screen is a very bright 14.1” XGA TFT display.
Out of all the notebooks I have ever owned this screen is the brightest by far. It really makes for easy computing. My old notebook screen was a 12.1 TFT and the difference is immediately noticeable to this one.
It should be noted that this notebook is on the lighter side of the scale in terms of notebooks. It is not an ultra-thin but it is smaller than most average sized notebooks. It weighs only 4.9lbs, which is nice.
In terms of raw computing this computer has all the necessary hardware components to make everyday programs work with relative ease. The battery life is good. The keyboard has a very tactile yet, firm feel and the speakers are more than adequate (if better than average).
Overall I have been very impressed with this computer, from it’s lightweight to it’s capable hardware, it has always performed. No tricks and all treats for the Dell Latitude C600. Now the trick is to get my company to provide for me a nice 2001 Cadillac for when I am on the road. (Hey one can dream, even if I am just a salesman.)
