| patricia63126's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Pavilion ze4220 (DB385A) PC Notebo... |
Our family had a desktop computer that was being fought over by every member. Our son wanted to play games, I needed to pay bills, and my husband wanted to go to the sports sites. After about six months of the constant pushing and pulling for the computer I decided to purchase the HP Pavilion ze4220 through HP in February 2004 for the adults in the family.
I spent around $1,000 for the laptop and have found it to be worth the money. It has 256MB RAM, I just currently purchased another 256MB stick from HP for $80, which after doing some price comparisons for new memory, this was average price and has helped its performance. I currently do movies with scanned photos, the size of the photos caused the computer to run slower with less RAM and the programs to run slower, adding this additional memory has allowed the programs to run faster. 1.6G hard drive, a DVD Player, CD-RW, USB compatible along with tradition plugs. Two locations to adjust the volume, 56K modem, Intel Celeron processor, Windows XP Home Edition, two slots for wireless networking, a removable battery with a life of 1 and 1/2 hours.
I am not going to say this is a heavy duty computer. I currently use it for surfing, playing games, tracking bills, paying bills online, shopping, creating home movies with scanned pictures but the system runs quick and has been very reliable.
When I purchased the computer, it came with all the necessary plugs etc, but it did not come with a CD burning program which I already had Nero and installed that.
The computer has been very reliable for my needs and would recommend this to anyone looking for something to use for light work and playing. It would not be a computer I would recommend to someone who travels and uses the computer as a life line. It is not build for that purpose. I work on a laptop at work, which was much more expensive and am able to see the differences in the construction of the entire computer. The HP casing is more lightweight, the screen closer is less tight, the keyboard keys are lighter material and depress easier that of a more expensive computer. All that aside, it has been a wonderful investment for our family.
