The Bottom Line: Stay away. Loud, bad battery life, feels cheap and looks bad after normal use.

I've always had SONY electronics, but their laptop is no good. I cracked the lcd bezel around the screen when my sleeve got caught on it. Cheap components - the paint job is awful. It scratches extremely easily, and my watch band has taken the paint completely off the keyboard bezel. The speakers pop and crackle on windows startup. Even the badges that say "Intel" and "ATI" on the keyboard bezel are not the same quality on other computers. They're all scraped up as well.
Really heavy as well, and has an awful battery life. Had to buy a second battery just to get the charge time to around 3 hours.
It is also loud, and hot. Even after having the fan replaced it is both of these things. the fan is always on. It is loud enough that people comment about it.
The ps2 ports are not even 2.0, so I can't transfer items from flash memory at optimum speed. Not acceptable in a Pentium 4 2.0 mhz computer. No wireless internets either. Bah.
The original motherboard was fried within a year. The heatsink and fan went within 2. I'm thinking of selling before my warranty is up. Yuck.
One last thing - this is a rare computer. You can't get spare parts like you can for another computer. There's like one of them on Ebay.
Get a Dell or a Gateway.
