Memorex, a company that has created writable media for several years, has finally created a MP3 enabled portable CD player.
The MP3 encoder has become a new trend, popping up in everything from DVD players to car stereos. The main reason for this MP3 excitement is the compression that is MP3. Long past are the days where a mere 12 songs fit on a single CD. MP3 allows a plethora of songs, amounting to about 150. It is obvious why Memorex chose to put MP3 in their line of portable CD players.
There are several incredible features cram packed into this little silver casing. Some of which are: ID3 tag identification, search functions (by name and number), and anit-skip. The main reason I bought this product is because one, it is MP3, and two, it was cheap. I bought it for $50.00, and it came with a car kit :) It has turned out to be much more than that, though. It is incredibly easy to use and effective. The sound quality is actually very good (but with all things, it depends on the speakers or headphones). Also, i have found this product to be quite durable. I have dropped it on numerous occasions and got it wet once.
Now on with the cons. The battery life is okay - if you get yourself a good pair of rechargeable batteries, you'll be alright. Also, it only has a 40 second anti-skip. This may seem like a lot, but when exercising or on a bumpy trip, the 40 seconds dwindles away quickly. These activities aside, the music play is flawless. If this anti-skip concerns you, you may want to look into buying a MP3/CD player from Rio - They have a few different models.
