| civic2000's Full Review: Abit BE6-II Motherboard |
Abit's BE6 II is one of the greatest BX boards ever produced. In terms of stabilty and performance, you can never go wrong with Abit and its line of motherboards. The BE6 II one of Abit's Pentium III motherboards. Despite the the fact that the BX chipset is aging, the BE6 II shows the rock hard performance the BX chipset can still produce.
Features
The BE6 II contains so many features for those who are into computer tweaking and overclocking. This motherboard allows you to change the front speed bus in 1 MHZ increments, all the way up to 200 MHZ! Other overclocking features are the abilities to change the CPU voltage and memory timings.
The BE6 II also has an onboard ATA66 controller embedded onto it. ATA66 allows hard drives to transfer up to 66 MB of data per second. However, the BE6 II's ATA66 controller is a bit buggy. It still need better support from Abit, but this is only a minor flaw among the motherboard's robust features.
Performance & Stablity
Being the computer junkie that I am, I immediately gave the board's overclocking ability a shot. After installing my Pentium III 450 onto the motherboard, I cranked up the Front Speed Bus to 112 MHZ. No problem. So I then increased it to 124, then 133. Still no problems. You also need a good heatsink/fan combo in order to accomplish this feat. However, the board still proved to be incredibly stable. So far, I haven't had any compatibility problems with this motherboard and all my other perephirals and components.
Conclusion
If your in the market for a good and stable P3 motherboard, look no further and purchase this motherboard. Just make sure to update and flash the BIOS so that it will be able to support newer processors. With all the overclocking features provided, you cannot go wrong with the Abit BE6 II!
