Pros: Cheap! Fast Low-end MB

The Bottom Line: It's bad, they write blues songs about this stuff!

| cobracommander's Full Review: Elitegroup K7SEM Motherboard |
I just bought the K7SEM from Pricewatch.com. As soon as I got all the parts I put it all together. At first I was very excited about my new 1.2 Ghz monster. When I put everything in it's place and installed all the drivers included on the disk, I noticed that the sound device wasn't working. At first I contacted my vendor, after riding their support carousel with no result I decided to contact ECS directly! Round and round she goes, where she stops, whatever. I got nowhere! Finally after a few days I found an upgrade to the BIOS, that promised to "fix" the sound issue. I downloaded it, but out of what can only be described as mortal fear, I have not installed it.
But I digress. Save for the sound issue, and the fact that I have no room for a sound card, I would reccomend this board for those who want a cheap, hot-rod, system. I haven't seen any sign of lag. With 256 megs of RAM installed I can run 3 or 4 graphics applications at once without issue.
But if you buy this motherboard, check the web and usenet for technical reviews and issues surrounding this equipment.
And don't even try to use the onboard sound or video. Leave that to AGP and PCI cards.
Good luck, and Happy hunting!
